Ménière's disease

Ménière's disease is characterized by the following symptoms:
  • Episodes of severe rotary vertigo (sensation of spinning) with nausea (and vomiting) that usually last several hours.
  • Loss of hearing that is generally in one ear, and more rarely in both ears, usually in the low-frequency range
  • Tinnitus and a sense of fullness in the ear affected
Ménière's disease is a relatively rare disease within a partition of the inner ear known as the labyrinth, the underlying cause of which is still unclear. Knowledge to date has shown that the symptoms are triggered by a temporary, pathological increase in pressure of the endolymphatic fluid (fluid in the inner ear).

Treatment of Ménière's disease

Multiple different treatment strategies are recommended due to the insufficient knowledge on the causes of Ménière's disease. We will not go into each of them here individually as there are so many.

Our preferred treatment for Ménière's disease is one we have developed ourselves, called "Labyrinth Anaesthesia".

Why ?

There is a highly efficient method, especially for the unbearable symptoms of vertigo. Our surveys have shown that vertigo has improved in around 85 - 90% of cases.

We have performed Labyrinth Anaesthesia on a large number of patients - over 500 - and not a single patient has suffered appreciable side-effects. It is particularly important that hearing was not further impaired in any of the patients. This method can therefore be used without any risk in patients who still have good hearing levels. In contrast, treatment using Gentamycin significantly or completely damages hearing and the vestibular system (our organ of balance).

For the reasons outlined above, Labyrinth Anaesthesia - contrary to most treatments currently offered - is the only method suitable for treating bilateral Ménière's disease. Gentamycin instillation or other surgical procedures are usually no longer applicable in such cases.

Labyrinth Anaesthesia can therefore be repeated. This is very significant because no treatment has yet been discovered that can completely heal Ménière's disease.

Labyrinth Anaesthesia is a "single shot" treatment. This means that initially only one injection into the middle ear is required, so it is a therapy that saves a great deal of time. A repeat treatment (if needed) also consists of just a one-off injection.

Labyrinth Anaesthesia does not rule out additional treatment options, which may occasionally be advisable.

Labyrinth Anaesthesia has already brought substantial relief to so many patients

Why shouldn't it help you, too?
